Criminals invading Craigslist

Aug 07, 2006 18:03

From ClarkHoward.com today:

Clark is a big fan of craigslist.org. It’s a huge classified ad site and, even better, it’s FREE! The site is pretty stark looking, but it’s provided a great service for millions of people. Unfortunately, some bad apples are spoiling the bunch. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, criminals are stealing goods from sellers at gunpoint around the country. What happens is the initial e-mails are sent, a time and place are set to meet and when sellers produce items, the thief puts a gun in their face. So, you must be careful. If you agree to meet someone, take someone else with you. Or do the exchange in a very public place, maybe near a police station.
