Slum Lord Sandy

My old home, just two blocks from my and Gary's home, is up for sale, and has been for the last year or more.
Not selling....and we're not willing to reduce it to the levels it would need to sell in today's market.
So, rather than spend another year on taxes, utilities, and insurance with no return on the cost, we decided to rent/lease it out.  It has all the major appliances, and is move-in ready.

Our real estate agent found a renter the day after we signed the agreement to add 'for lease' on the house.

The rental fee will cover the increased insurance, the taxes, and a good bit more, so yay us!!  I meet with the renter (a divorced mom with two sons just moving back to Michigan) today, and sign the papers. it will be a year's lease.
Still some things to do in the house, get it inspected, and the like, but they're small tasks that should be easily accomplished.  Gary's going to do whatever minor repairs need doing, and as soon as the weather permits, I'll give the lawn a good fall mow. (after that, the lady's sons can do it...!!)

My tenent is moving in this week!!  She loved the house, and when I meet her, I can show her all the little things that I know she'll want to know about.

It's a big chance for me, since I've never done this before, but I'm looking forward to it.
