I'm not sure that Chris Carter has any follow through
Here's my issue with the end of S8 of the X-Files. I love the character interactions. I love all the possibilities that were inherent in the end of the season. What I don't love is the whole story line with the Super Soldiers and the Super Baby. I mean...really? Really, Chris Carter? CC essentially created an enemy that couldn't be stopped, which I always find terribly annoying. I mean, don't most people want the good guys to win? And starting about this time, CC makes it impossible.
The other thing that I find annoying is that Scully all of a sudden is letting herself get passed around from friend to foe to total stranger. Granted, I've never been pregnant before, so maybe when a woman is 8 months along, she doesn't have the energy to deal with the idea of running from crazy Super Soldiers or whatever.
What I want now is S8-S9 fic that completely ignores the stupid Super Soldier "special baby" thing and focuses on the relationships between all the characters. I'll save the season finale for tomorrow morning's workout. Tyson should be here in a bit, and I'm finding myself annoyed at the moment. Getting through S9 could be very interesting...
On the other hand, Quincey was cuddling with me for a good part of the evening so far, and having a purring cat nuzzling you is one of the best things this side of heaven.
