Random X-Files Question

I was going to post this the other night, and now I can't remember why I didn't, but I was watching "Signs and Wonders" from S7. Has anyone else noticed that Mulder is dressing completely different in that episode? Typically when they're out on a case, interacting with suspects, etc., he's in a suit and tie. I don't think he wore a tie at all for ( Read more... )

OK - no clue on the shirt thing - but wanted you to know that I am on S5 - I'm still bored with the S4/S5 Dana cancer thing - and much more enjoy the one-shot monster eps. BUT - it is fun to watch. I loves me the Lone Gunman.

I only have DVDs through S6. Can you indulge me and tell me how they tied up the Lone Gunman story line?

PS - watched Bad Blood - WONDERFUL! Did you know that Tim Minear (Buffy alumni) was a story editor? No wonder it was so funny...Also loved "Small Potatoes"

There was a short-lived spin-off that was just about the Lone Gunmen. In S9, after TLG was canceled, they did a wrap up episode called "Jump the Shark." (And I'm certain that title was used deliberately.) I don't remember a lot of details, but basically TLG find out about a terrorist threat involving an airplane (it aired before 9/11, so spooky). In order to stop it, they have to sacrifice themselves. No one was terribly happy with Chris Carter after that, but given how he wrapped up the series as a whole, it's not a shock.

So CC killed them off? What a dumb thing to do - they would have been great in a movie.

I think CC needed 35% more humor and 99% less dirgey music. I'm enjoying myself - but would never invest $ of my own buying the series....I think this one partial re-watch is all I will ever need.

You know, normally I'd agree with you, but for some reason I like X-Files angst. Maybe because when there are moments of humor it's that much more evident?

I guess I like everything - esp angst, with a heaping helping of humor. Mulder is pretty though - and to me, somewhat like Wesley....

It's really odd to me, because when BtVS got pretty humorless in S6 and S7, I stopped liking it as much. (I was still hooked on it, but I haven't been able to re-watch those seasons at all.) I think that for me it's all about expectations. I expect X-Files to be overly angsty with plenty of Mulder-torture. I want my Jossverse stuff to be plenty humorous.

And...Mulder is a bit like Wesley, isn't he? Hmm...
