I'm feeling kind of together and productive with my life lately, so I think I'll start blogging again! What can I say, it's a lot more fun to discuss accomplishment than talk about how I spent a whole weekend in an armchair surfing the internet.

The dismantled 15" titanium one or my little 12"?

Respectively the answers are I think so but I don't remember which bits still work, and yes but it's in use.

Yay! Valentine! :)

I think the separate encompassing category for languages learned later in life is an actual Thing that has been found. Like, with Studies.

I find that my (more recent) Japanese tends to crowd out the Spanish and French that I used to know. (related to the "foreign language category") If I try to think of the Spanish word for something, the Japanese one asserts itself and sounds quite plausible unless I am vigilant.

My students have told me that learning two languages at once makes both of them better, which is interesting. I don't know if it's Backed Up with Studies. But perhaps it would force you to separate categories more specifically. It kind of seems risky though...

Yes, I think Thai almost entirely rewrote my French for a while. I met some French tourists there and attempted to speak to them with laughable results.

I've been wanting to poke back at my other languages, but had been worried about crossing wires. The review of French of the other weekend didn't seem to hurt anything though. Maybe I should take this language-mood opportunity to go over Thai again as well.

Welcome back! And that's great about getting into the language learning groove.

BBC book and online learning materials have always looked pretty good - I've just had a look at the languages site and I'm impressed with all the holiday phrase mp3 downloads and everything. I might try some to occupy my time during daily commutes.
