i feel the need to make another one of my movie reviews...
first of all, for any of you who disagree with what i am about to say, and theres always atleast one (i have my guesses as to who it will be) this is meant as no offense to you, nor do i want to argue about it.
i saw the movie closer this morning. absolutely a horrible waste of 13 dollars. the movie had nothing of value, and was only and excuse to see how many times they could squeeze the word "fuck" into the dialoge. it was like listening to some stupid rap song with challenged people signing about perverse sexual acts. the profanity was just useless and didnt add any element to the movie, except to give you further reason to dislike all characters involved. i've never seen julia roberts or natalie portman play a weaker character.(although i cant say that for jude law, im usually dissapointed by him) i went into the movie expecting to see a dark and depressing story, and i expected to be upset by it. however, i also expected a well written and involving plot which i guess was too much to ask for. every last character was just angry, and there was no attempt to build any depth to them to give the viewers a reason to care what happens to them. but, im sure as the reviewer on the movie website said, closer will get some award for something stupid because those who want others to view them as "artsy" and "intellectual" will find some claim to liking the movie.i like a movie where i feel detached from the characters sometimes-but theres usually something else there to hold on to if you are supposed to feel detached, some other quality to the movie. lets be honest. closer is a dissappointing waste of time.
so those of you who were planning on seeing closer...go see something else..
