...anybody there?

I'm surprised this is still here. I'm even more surprised that I thought about it and actually logged back in to write this...last post was...just about 2 years ago.

Almost every person I had added under my friends hasn't actually posted for almost 2 years or more as well. I started this back in 2001 while in college. Everyone else has finished their education (if they pursued one) and have either moved on to careers, starting families, going out regularly, or have lost touch.

Looks like life swept everyone up into adulthood and left their echos behind haunting this area of the internet. And yet, I came back. I cheated on LJ with Friendster, then Myspace came along and Facebook and Twitter soon after that. But I wondered, did everyone get so busy with their lives that writing paragraphs seemed too much of a daunting task to be bothered with?

Nobody used the blog features in Friendster or Myspace. As far as I know there is no area to do that in Facebook, and you can only write about a sentence in Twitter. Has everyone become so overloaded that they can only focus on a sentence at a time?

At this point I haven't started a career or family, taken the time to begin or finish an education, though I've managed to lose touch with most everybody.

With few added as friends that still manage to revisit this domain, it gives me the sense of futility as though I were sitting in front of an empty cave and talking simply to hear my words bounce back to me. All in all though, it still feels comforting to know that this cave used to be a hub of activity and discussion.

I think I'll stay a while and enjoy the silence of what used to be. Who knows, with any luck I'll find a new cave and begin a new set of memories from here on out.
