I defeated the Weeping Angel!
...Not exactly a major achievement, this, but ah, the warm glow of finishing the game. :D I found it extremely frustrating, because I couldn't tell the rules. Even the last level, which other people found boggling, was okay for me, because it behaved in a reliable, predictable way.
Also,
there's a bit of an Easter Egg, pun intended. :D If you rescue the pterodactyl's egg (which I only happened to do because I thought it was a letter we were meant to pick up, and possibly because Skutnik's games have trained me to hunt for every pixel that seems to stand out), mama'dactyl is going to carry you from the nest right to the door of your Tardis, so you don't have to do the Dalek dance again.
It's been a successful London Jazz Festival so far! I discovered some new (to me) venues, and of course players and bands. My favourite has been
Soumik Datta and the Sound of Surprise. Great sounds, and great interaction between the musicians. I could see music being created in the playful dialogue between them, it was, to borrow a word from the vocabulary of a master of enthusiasm, brilliant. :D
(If jazz is not something you'd associate with me, that's because I'm not a "jazz fan" in the typical definition; in fact, I rarely listen to jazz, especially to recordings. I'm very picky, too, for reasons that have less to do with the musicians' skill and everything to do with what kind of sounds the instruments can and are being used to produce.
The saxophone, for example. Most of the typical uses for it I can't hear as pleasant, and actively hurt my ears and my brain; and then there's some guy who makes it "say" the mellowest things.
I can't abide trumpets, and too much use of the cymbals or cymbal-like things gets translated as painful noise rather than music. This restricts my choices considerably. ;-) )
"Economy", "Basic", "Value", "Starter", "Simplicity".
Can anyone give me more (UK and international) euphemisms for "cheap 'n' crappy"? I'd like to know what I'm getting into, even when I'm new to a place / brand and don't have enough to compare things with.
