Doctor Who versus X-Files: Battle of the Continuities

Mar 31, 2013 23:34

OK.

After seasons and seasons of having River shoved at us as the one and only, - in the "ahem-ahem" way, do you get it, audience?
- as the past and future wife, and by the way, that means sex, okay? just so we know you got it, stupid audience
- it's so tragic, they keep meeting in the wrong order, SPOILERS SPOILERs
- oh, she also kills him, but whatever, it's epic love, okay?, she's going to be the DOCTOR'S WIFE, HE MARRIES HER, she marries him, that means HUSBAND AND WIFE OKAY, and by the way THAT MEANS SEX, are you getting it,
- the Doctor and River, sitting in a prison / TARDIS / maybe even tree, SEXING
- what, were you expecting something exciting from those SPOILERS?
- no, no, it's just Doctor/River husband/wife FOREVER

...now it's all "hoo, hoo, lookit, Doctor and Clara can barely be kept apart"?

Excuse me if I'm dizzy from the whiplash.

Ever heard of continuity? Such as, you know, emotional continuity?

Yes, I get it, the first time River meets The Doctor, it kills him, the first time The Doctor meets River, it kills her, bookends, blah-blah, Library blah.

When did they do the other stuff? Like "Jim the Blowfish"?

I wasn't even a fan of the Doctor/River story, but I am a fan of some kind of consistency. Yeah, no one watches Dr Who for the "science", but if it's all about the Story, and the Feelings, by Rassilon, have some kind of consistency there.

PS: No, I have not forgiven you for the Ponds, Moffatt. No amount of book authoring will ever make me forgive you for the Ponds.
