Aw, wow I really loved this. More than anything I love the way Sheppard fit in with the crew. The stuff with the Chief and Starbuck, that last scene. So well done. Thank you for sharing this.

Yay, I'm so happy you like! I couldn't not include more of the guys on Galactica, I love everybody so much. :)

This starts with a very BSG feel; CIC and the Galactica enemble are well-drawn. While I'm not familiar with SGA, I found myself liking this Sheppard fellow.

Good laying of ground, with all the major players getting their moment with the new guy. I was particularly touched by Roslin's hope and worry, and her disappointment in the lack of his people having ties to the Colonies.

Sheppard's interactions with Starbuck are, I think, my favorite:

We get other names because we're new people, when we fly. Reborn and baptized into the skies and the stars.

That's profound and all sorts of beautiful.

Of course, she gets all prickly when Anders shows up:

I got hooked up a while ago, was on this rotten, boring planet, and he was just handy

Ouch! But true enough. Aw, Anders.

And the hasty and clutching sex that Anders and Sheppard have is hot and sad at the same time. This line says it all:

drown himself in the sensations and come with the image of stars going nova behind his eyelids.Beautiful, intoxicating... but stars go nova when they ( ... )

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback!

Sheppard, especially when separated from his team, has the potential to be a rather angsty/broken character, which is probably why I often feel the impulse to integrate him in the BSG universe, where his load of issues would fit like a leather glove. He really loves flying machines, which is why I felt confident he'd manage to get into a Viper, and would never stop fighting the good fight, even if he found himself stuck in someone else's battle.

I'm really glad the BSG side felt real for you - once I started writing I realised I couldn't just stick him in the universe, and also that I loved pretty much every character and I wanted them to have their chance to react.

That phrase in the Sheppard-Starbuck conversation was one of my favourites to write, so I'm really happy you liked it!

And about Kara and Anders - I love them both, but even I as a shipper had to acknowledge that they're rather broken too. :/ (I have a feeling BSG will break my heart, and not just with Starbuck and Anders
