I've been repeatedly tagged for this meme but was too lazy to do it until now :D
Five ways in which I am a dork
1. Even when I type regular text (as in, not program code) I usually put both the open and closed parentheses and then start typing between them whatever it was that I wanted parenthesised.
(Origins of this habit: when you write code it's the healthy thing to do, otherwise you risk to forget to close them and an endless host of compiling errors are waiting just for that.)
2. In the year between my discovering the Lord of the Rings universe and the theatrical release of the third movie I wore a ring on a necklace at all times.
(This makes me a dork instead of a geek because said ring was silver, not gold, and didn't look at all like The One Ring.)
3. I use smilies and emoticons in paper letters; usually horizontal (like this :-) ), other times vertical, and when I'm feeling particularly artistic I even draw them to resemble Yahoo! emoticons.
4. I made this icon with which I'm posting.
Or, if this pertains more to geekery than dorkness:
4b. I often wear mismatched socks. I find nothing wrong in this, as long as the socks either have kindred colours, or complement each other tastefully.
5. Like the dork who tagged me (*hugs Cygny*) I tend to notice immediately other people's spelling mistakes, be they in fanfics, books, subtitles on TV, newspaper articles or what have you.
I get so annoyed sometimes that I have to correct them if they occur in tutorials that I'm reading; I suffer greatly if they're PDFs and I don't have the full Adobe or the files are write-protected. I stopped reading a fanfic that had an intriguing plot and generally decent spelling except for the it's/its bug (but it occurred in every single paragraph).
I'm tagging
_nightelf (just in case she missed Cygny's tagging),
oduinn (hi! what better way to get to know people than by pelting them with memes?),
x5_536 ( >:) ),
carus_erus and... *must think carefully before picking the last victim*...
zeonn (I just hope you have fun with it :) ).
