In otter news, my video has about 4.5 million views, making it the most popular animal video on Youtube of all time. Conan spoofed it recently, and although he only showed about 5 seconds of it, it was the part where I said "absolutely adorable". So my voice is famous. :)
And in other news, I'm 32 weeks pregnant and feeling good. The belly is just a little uncomfortable to carry around, I've got heartburn, and I'm having trouble sleeping. Minor complaints, eh.
Here I am busting out of my maternity bathing suit. And then
this one really shows the belly. These are the only pictures of me in a bathing suit that will ever be on the Internet. :) And it's a modest tankini with a skirted bottom, so it's not too revealing, eh. Heh.
We've started our childbirth classes which are fun. I've read maybe a dozen books and my job is to learn things from books, as you know. I **KNOW** everything being taught, although I lack the hands-on experience. The teacher instructs by asking questions to the class, and I have to bite my tongue to not answer every question like a smartass. At one point the teacher forgot a small point from the video we had just watched, and Peter and I simultaneously gave her the answer. It's strange to be a student in a class targeted at about the grade 9 level. But it's fun to meet other pregnant ladies, and the class will eventually include massage techniques and a tour of the hospital, so it's worthwhile.
We still don't have our offers from
York. The Dean said there was a 100% chance we'd be offered the jobs, and the closing date for their job posting for Peter was April 15th. So I hope we hear something this week. I've spent time learning about Toronto neighborhoods and we're going to buy a house within walking distance of the Keele subway station. There's an express bus from that station to York University and it's a straight shot against traffic to drive. We can also walk to High Park, which is one of the largest urban parks in North America. Lots of sports fields, hiking trails, a playground, a dog hill, a pond to skate on in the winter and outdoor Shakespeare performances in the summer. This is a historically Polish neighborhood, and one particular street, Roncesvalles, is full of Polish delis and has a European vibe. So I'm excited.
This is the last week of classes, then there is an exam week, and then I won't teach again until January, whether we stay here or move. I just have 1800 pages of student projects to grade today (can you say skim?). Procrastination from grading explains the length of this post. Ok, time to get to work.
I hope everyone is doing well. xoxo
