In which summer is kind of boring.

Looking back at this journal, I've realized that I only wrote about three entries since last summer. It's summer again. When I was in high school, I wrote a blog everyday, sometimes twice a day! And yes, I had friends. I just had an overwhelming need to write down everything that entered my brain. *ANGST*

Summer is meh. I'm spending way too much time online, playing games on Facebook, which is officially the lamest way for a 21 year old person to spend summer. I do have a decent concert calendar lined up though:

June 22: Rooney @ Slims (which I won free tickets to! Free shows are awesome shows)
June 25: Pavement @ Greek Theatre
July 10: Paul McCartney @ AT&T Park
July 21-26: San Diego and Comic Con!
August 3: Ringo Starr @ Mountain Winery
August 7: We Are Scientists @ Slims
August 23: Crowded House @ Warfield

Actually, now that I've written that all down, it sounds exhausting. I was also thinking of buying Menomena tickets, luckily that's not until September.

I guess I haven't been doing absolutely nothing this summer. I've read a lot of books that I actually want to read, as opposed to assigned books for school. Right now I'm reading Mind of My Mind by Octavia Butler, which is a part of a series that I started for my Sci Fi lit class several semesters ago. All of her books have really hideous, off-putting covers, but are absolutely brilliant. Another book I just finished and LOVED was Will Grayson, Will Grayson by David Levithan and John Green. Really funny and well written book for teens. It blows my mind that when books this clever and entertaining exist, some teens still choose to read shit like Twilight. There are good books! Read them!

I've also been trying to improve the guitar skills. It's been a really long time. A lot is coming back to me though, and I've been having fun playing with my tiny amp.

I suppose this wouldn't be a blog entry of mine if I didn't mention Doctor Who. I'm loving Matt Smith. And Karen Gillian. And Stephen Moffat's writing. It's all brilliant. I wish I never doubted Matt Smith, I almost like him better than David Tennant. He's just . . . so good. Very excited for tomorrows episode. [Geekiness]

Anyway, my goal this summer is to go outside more, and maybe get some exercise. I've been taking my bike out once in a while. I've got a spiffy basket on it now, and I still need to put on my bell (decided I needed one after accidentally almost running an old lady over. Oops.) Got to get some kind of a tan. Right now I have a weird tan on only one arm from driving.

Will I actually accomplish any of my goals this summer? We'll see! (Probably not).
