SOOOO yesterday was our last half-day. I was looking forward to my extra time before I had to leave for work. I had just fixed myself some lunch when the phone rings. It was my mom calling to ask me to come in to work. Our store director asked her to call me. Apparently some of our freight came early and a girl in my department, Chrissi (it was actually her LAST day with us...), failed to show up (she did, however, come in to pick up her check and buy groceries...she said her toe was broken...). My boss had already worked a midnight shift and everyone else was off. So, because I'm a good employee, I went in. I get there at 12:50 clock in and go back to where the freight is. THERE WERE EIGHT BOARDS OF FREIGHT!!! Michelle is probably the only one who knows how much product that is so I'll elaborate, and these boards were particularly full. There were boxes stacked up higher than my arms strected out above my head, and they were both wider and deeper than my armspan. Some of these boards were tilting and it was like playing Jenga with my life, trying to make sure I didn't make them all fall. The trouble is, none of the stuff could really go out on the shelf, about 70% of it was holiday candy and another 15% of it was housewares...which I don't work. So I spent an entire 6 hour shift sorting out all the different kinds of items: Christmas, regular and housewares. My boss actually thought that we could fit ALL the Christmas candy onto TWO boards...you've gotta be kidding me... So yeah, it was pretty damn ugly. One of our people in charge kept trying to help me, but every five minutes she had a phone call, or someone called her up to check....LAME AS HECK! At first I felt like I was going to pull out all my hair, I've never broken down freight before in my life...and then they just set me loose on something TWICE as big as our normal loads. I swore to myself, and I told my parents, if they ever call me in and put me in that sort of situation again I will quit on the spot...I'm not even kidding, it was that bad.
Well, Western received my transcript and Mr. Wusterbarth sent off his recommendation. Covich gave me a bunch that he wrote for me. I read them and they are really good, but when my mom read them at home we realized he put down an incorrect GPA for me. Instead of 3.98 he wrote 3.93...I'm not really sure if that would matter or not, but I don't really think it would be good to have a conflicting application GPA and recommendation GPA. I really wonder what Mr. Wusterbarth wrote for me. I gave him a stamped and addressed envelope so he just mailed it out himself...I will never know what he has to REALLY say about me. See, I figure Covich probably genuinely likes me, but he may have been even nicer than he had to be because he let me see my recommendation...but what will Wustie's say? All I know is now I'm nervous. With all my components into my file Western will start reviewing my application. Now because SOOO many people apply there it will probably take a month or more for them to send me a notice I'll just get to sit here in limbo for a while. I'm basing my decision to apply somewhere else on my yes or no from Western...because in all honesty I don't want to go anywhere else.
