There are so many haters in the world. Just take a look at youtube.
People making dumb comments all the time.
Such as when people do covers of their favourite bands. They just slam the person, saying they suck and that they don't come close to to original.
The point is not about sounding like the original. The point is that the person appreciates the music, wants to perform it, so the person performs it. The aim is not to outdo the original artist. And if you really appreciate music, you would see the beauty of it cos it can be interpreted in so many ways and each time giving it a different feel, a different mood.
People who comment saying that people do not know what is music if you prefer version A versus the original version are idiots. They act like they know so much about music when they probably don't. People are entitled to their own musical preferences and if they like A better, than why can't they like A better? I am pretty sure professional musicians would respect that cos you can't please everyone and you can't expect your music to cater to everyone. Sure, you can totally dislike a version of the song, the arrangement may sound weird to you and you just want to frown. But not to the extent that you slam the person and just give mean, nasty, hateful comments. You aren't even the original artist so what gives you the right to be rude to others? As if the original artist would be so grateful for your support and your pathetic little defense- you hiding behind a screen name and the only use of your power would be writing vulgarities all over walls and forums.
The only issue I have is when people who cover artists do not give credit to the original performer, especially when they did not write the song. Claiming credit for something you did not do is definitely a no-no. Other than that, even if you want to kill a song, go ahead. Cos if I don't like it, I can always just listen to something else.
