Pitstop #5 - Los Angeles; California

Jun 09, 2008 02:51

LA is another city I won't mind living in.
I miss the place already!!

I would chose LA over Boston for the weather.
However since I lived in Boston for a longer period, I love Boston in another way altogether.

We stayed at USA hostels. THE PLACE TO STAY if you ever go to LA.
I love the place and I love the whole environment.

The very first night, we were supposed to go for a limo tour! We were so excited and got all dressed up. Alas, we didn't manage to get into the tour cos there was a limo short. BIG disappointment there.

We did have a fun BBQ that night in the hostel though. Although the staff there did a bad job at the hotdogs (all burnt) the meal was interesting and we got to meet a lot more people.

Santa Monica Beach the next morning and it was a lovely place.

There was a carnival going on too! Nothing much though.

THIS is what I call a beach.

Unfortunately the weather was too cold for proper tanning and swimming.

We did sit on the sand for a bit though...

I still had to get an authentic beach shot though. Hence the photo. It was FREEZING. I had to put on my top right after.

Random sand roller...

We tried dipping our feet in the freezing water...

Jeannie and I went to the Promanade area at Third Street for some shopping before we each met our friends to catch up.

I met Terence, who came driving by in his silver 2 seater BMW. AND I DIDN'T TAKE A PHOTO OF HIS CAR !!
I had a nice treated lunch from him at the Grand Lux Cafe with a nice original cheesecake from the cheesecake factory thereafter. The meal was so delicious ! It was nice catching up as well since I haven't spoken to him in over 10 years.

He brought me to Beverley Centre, Farmer's Market and another shopping area that I can't remember the name at this moment.
The food at Farmer's Market was awesome!!

At some art gallery. I think the above paintings cost like a few (hundred) thousand. Yes, believe it or not.

We caught a bit of the Laker's game at some pub nearby (the last 5 minutes actually) and I realized a little too late that the NBA championships are so fascinating. DARNNNN.

3 Cheers to the Boston Celtics for winning the finals though!! (:

Let's see. We went for some Hollywood tour the next day. We are supposedly touring the homes of where all the big stars live in.

No starts spotted. Only nice, huge monster houses.

The tour guide who gave us a list of shows he "starred" in (as an extra).

The weather was incredibly HOT HOT HOT. Yes we took an open roof tour bus! (:

John. This guys is currently working on the set for Prisonbreak Season 4. (WHAT. Season 4 already?!?!)

Unfortunately, NO. I didn't not manage to see Wentworth Miller. If I did, that would be the main picture in front. Haha)
Spot the Prisonbreak sign on the top right of the windshield.

So anyway, he works with the grip equipment. He brought us up to take a look and almost got into trouble because of it. Yikes. Thankfully he is okay.

He also helped in the first scene of "Don't mess with the Zohan". The part where Adam Sandler flies through the air in a one legged kick...

Chinese Theatre where the movie premier was held. See the red carpet?

Yes. Speaking of that movie, it is horribly crude but still quite retardedly funny. We got free opening premier passes! Although we waited in like for an hour plus in the freezing cold in my Aerosoles shoes that KILLED my toe and we had NO CAMERA(we stupidly followed instructions on the ticket), I guess a free movie is okay.

Haha. It is OKAY only. Don't watch the show. Unless you like American Humour.

Lunch at IN-N-OUT! Recommended by Fred. It is a west coast thing and it tastes really good! Cheaper than the rest too.

Frozen Yogurt =  THE IN THING
I ate so much frozen yogurt along my journey. Haha.

Last but not least, who can forget the very entertaining people we met?!
The Europeans are, by the way, really HOT and good looking.

Tyler - one of the staff

Johnny & Meredith - they work here too; at the bar

Sylvain; who is supposedly some sports journalist/reporter from Europe..

Martin.

Those who loves LA say AYE.

AYE!!!!
I HEART L.A. <3
A pity we couldn't stay longer.
S.F, here we come!

friends, photos, movie, travel
