final batch of icons for 20inspirations

grungy, shadows, contrast, wind, whisper

I started with an inspiration post, like the mods were doing. Just to be cool :)

Apparently all you really need to know about me is that I like making Game of Thrones icons? I kid, I kid. But this is very GoT-heavy, ye be warned. I'm also going to yap a lot about icons because, hey, it's my last chance to! Sorry!

01. Jack Shephard, Lost - I don't think I've made a Jack icon... ever? Not that I can think of. Which is strange because Jack is my second favorite Lost character (after Des). If there's one thing that's important to mention in an "about me" post, it's that I love Lost. More than I love most people. And Jack's journey in the sixth season is one of my favorite character arcs of all time. Nothing really captures the essence of that better than this moment. And I really like contrasting b&w with blue.
    02. Faux-livia Dunham, Fringe - Faux-livia!!! My favorite gal. I wanted to do some straight up face icons, since I've tended towards crazy blocking and textures lately. I'm really happy with the way this one turned out.
    03. Jesse Pinkman, Breaking Bad - I saw this picture on Tumblr and knew I had to make it an icon. I love Jesse Pinkman. SO MUCH. And what's better than a Jesse Pinkman mug shot? I knew it'd be a fun way to experiment with my blocky style.
    04. Inglourious Basterds - IB is one of my favorite movies, and I LOVE this scene, it might be my favorite in the movie. And I've always loved the colors and wanted to do something when them, graphis-wise. So that's what I did!
    05. Dany Targaryen, Game of Thrones - I'm on a Dany high lately. Love her. She's probably my favorite GoT character (even though "MY DRAAAGONS" has been cloying this season). And ngl, a lot of that is for superficial reasons, because her billowing hair and puckery lips are so fun to play with in PS. I had some crazy idea of putting her face over Drogo's because he's also some false start to her epic journey, which is more about herself than anyone else. Which sounds a little mental, but hopefully it translated okay.

06. Mr. and Mrs. Coach, Friday Night Lights - Favorite married couple of all time. I want to be Tami Taylor someday. I honestly idolize these two idiots, i.e. they needed to be a part of this post somehow.
    07. Rashida Jones - Sheeds in nerd glasses, be still my heart. I barely did anything to this icon, but like the Taylors, she's an important enough person to me that she had to be included somehow by default. I've loved her for five solid years, and luckily her career just keeps getting better.
    08. Kate Austen, Lost - I know everyone and their mama has iconed this moment, and I doubt that my version holds up, but it's such a visually gorgeous scene that I couldn't resist. And indicative of when I first started really loving Kate. (Katers to the left.) When all is said and done, she's probably my favorite woman on the show (TIED WITH JULIET. IT PAINS ME TO THINK ABOUT CHOOSING.) Something about watching her churn through murky green water, ugghghhg. Soooo pretty. So icon-friendly!
    09. Clementine, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Favorite movie of all time. Favorite performance of all time. Favorite movie character of all time. Needed to include her somehow. This is my favorite scene in the film. And it's impossible to make an ESOTSM icon without some crazy colors. Might as well honor my fave lady with my favorite icon style - insane blocking!
    10. Walter White, Breaking Bad - God, as horrible as this moment is, and as much as I fucking hate Walter White, I still love Walter White? Which is the whole dilemma of Breaking Bad, obviously! I don't really know if this shows off my style at all, but I was really inspired by some of the other icons in the inspiration post - how simple they are, but how heavily textured and stylized they can still be. I wanted to mimic that somehow.

11. Arya Stark, Game of Thrones - This moment, when she says goodbye to her direwolf, is so sad and soooo beautiful in terms of colors. I don't feel like I make enough green icons, so I wanted to experiment a little. If you squint nice and hard you can actually see the wolf in there, too.
    12. Sansa Stark, Game of Thrones - (I warned you there would be a lot of GoT - sorry!) SANSA!!!!! Fave Sansa moment ever. This is when she came into her own, and the moment I started really feeling for her. I love the muted yellows/golds of King's Landing. They're so fun to play around with when I'm iconing. I wanted to shroud her in shadows to show how much of an outsider she is by this point.
    13. Desmond Hume, Lost - I really had to resist making this is a Desmond Hume post. Only one Desmond icon! WHO AM I? I love Des with all my heart, he will forever be my favorite Lost character. And The Constant is my favorite episode. So, tada, ABOUT ME.
    14. Kate Austen, Lost - Another gorgeous Kate moment. Definitely my fave Kate-centric episode, and boy oh boy does Evie look good all sweaty and in peril with a gun against her head. Too many awesome caps from this scene, so I included them all!
    15. Dany Targaryen, Game of Thrones - Dany and her dragons! NEED I SAY MORE? (I love this scene so much.. I get goosebumps every time I watch it.)

16. Hermione Granger/Ron Weasley, Harry Potter - I had to include a little R/H action up in hurr. I love them, whatever. Little Lindsey learned how to ship through these fools. And I never get sick of those flustered Hermione caps.
    17. Sayid Jarrah, Lost - Never enough Sayid icons!! No but really, there are like none in existence, it's SAD. I wanted to make a Sayid icon while also utilizing my other favorite icon trick - repetition. Whenever I'm sad about how shitty an icon turned out, I shrink it and multiply and it almost always looks way better.
    18. Claire Littleton, Lost - This is an icon about hair. That's really all I have to say about it.
    19. Lincoln Lee, Fringe - It's going to make me sad if I talk about Lincoln too much, so I'm just going to stop right now ;_____; I hope we see you again somehow, Linc!!!
    20. Ian and Lip Gallagher, Shameless - I love this show. LOOOVE IT. Everyone should watch it!!! My favorite part (other than Fiona, who I cannot icon to save my life) is the Ian/Lip relationship. And I love this cap so much. The shadows! I really emphasized them, obviously, but they were there to begin with. Just a couple of idiots brothers :) :) :)

And with that... I'm done with my work for 20inspirations. I'm so sad to say goodbye to this place. It completely re-invigorated me as an icon maker. I can't even remember how I used to make things, the change has been so significant. The absolutely best part about it was the community aspect - getting to know all of you, getting compliments from icon makers I've admired for years. It really is the most special community I've ever been a part of. I hope we can all re-convene somewhere else. To start anew.

I'll miss it so much.
