Well, the road trip was an unmitigated success. After a bit of hassle getting the car, we set of for Exeter, stopping at Yeovil for a bite to eat. Having lived in Yeovil for a short while, Soph soon bumped in to some people she knew, which made for a more sociable stop over. By the time we got to Exeter I was knackered, having worked lates all week, so I promplty went to sleep for about 12 hours.
When I awoke, Chay and his dad were already well underway cramming the bike into the Kia Sedona we had rented. There was much measuring and scratching of chins, but eventually (four and a half hours later) the bike was in small enough chunks to fit into the car. Then we all piled in and set off back to the Smoke.
Six hours later, we got back to Bex and Chay's proceeded to put the front forks back on the bike and reassemble the hire car (which had had to be partially disassembled in order to get the bike in). Mission completed.
