[ Gunfire can easily be heard in echoes-- it's obvious already that it's more than a simple echo to the person possessing the communicator. Cannons are heard exploding, followed by the shatter of bricks falling upon themselves and cries from various men in many different languages. They all have one thing in common: "the French" is heard on most of their tongues. A more quiet sound of clashing weapons and rushing cavalry rings in the distance, and then a man yells, "FIRE!"

The English did fight the French, but the English commander the Duke of Wellington manned a multinational coalition consisting of Dutch forces, the English army, and several French royalists; this coalition was to be met by the Prussian forces, who had been delayed. Spoiler: Napoleon loses. ]
