any thoughts...?

So, remember I went to Chicoutimi last summer? That place in Quebec for those of you who don't remember the name, or didn't ever hear it to begin with. Well, (when I went) I drove up to Cincinnati early that morning for a flight from there to Montreal...after which followed an 8 hr layover in Montreal airport before a final flight from there to Bagotville (a tiny airport near the town of Chicoutimi). On the first plane I'm seated waaaay at the back...next to the toilets incidentally. And there's a guy seated next to me. We start talking, or he starts talking to me as I'm sure everyone is aware I didn't start this conversation. We find out we're going to the EXACT same place...like same program and everything (there is more than one french program there too). There couldn't have been anyone else seated on that plane who was also going there and WE were seated next to each other. We keep talking and discover both of our fathers are from England...can you say coincidence! Anywho, he lived in Belgium till maybe junior or senior year of highschool and thus is fluent in french. So, when we were actually at the program I hardly said a word to him since while I am not completely useless at the language, I'm nothing like him...and we would've had to converse in french. Thus already flustered Katie would've monumentally floundered. Fast-forward to a week ago. We begin talking on aim. Next comes the slightly suggestive comments and flirting. Now it's shameless flirting pretty much continuously. He's a triple major in criminal justice, spanish, and french...and is in Miami right now for an internship. He'll back in Cincinnati between the 18th of aug. and 6th of sept., but after that he's in DC interning with the NCIS for 3 months. We're planning on hanging out once or twice in that short interim time, but he wants to spend most of it with his family as he hasn't seen them all summer. After DC, he goes back to Dayton for the spring semester.

Here's the question: Can this work? Is there any possible way he and I could 'date'? Obviously it'd be pretty loose while he's in DC, but once he's back in Dayton is it possible, or should I just give up now? Everyone says long-distance doesn't work, but is Dayton/Cinci to far? anywho, just wanting some feedback
