Car failed MoT - boo-hoo - with 4 failures and 2 advisories. At first, this sounded scary, but really it's not too bad.
One was that the rear number plate light is blown - annoying as I checked all lights yesterday and replaced the blown passenger side side light and missed the number plate light. Doh, easy job anyway.
Another was damaged tyre - when I got the car, I switched the spare with one of the tyres, didn't realise the spare probably was a previous MoT failure, so just switched it back.
The last 2 are broken rear springs - I'm not too surprised as the suspension is on its last legs. Local garage quoted £100, but a local motor factors quoted £50 for a pair and it's easy to replace - 1) take off wheel 2) lift trailing arm slightly 3) unbolt one bolt 4) slide out spring and replace. So all in all, only £55 for this MoT. Thank you Vauxhall for making your cheap cars easy to fix!
Advisories - brake discs slightly worn and front suspension leaking oil (again, not surprised) but I'm going to ignore it for now. Guy also said front brakes squeals, but I'm deaf eh! ;) Ain't going to bother with this either until I take the car for its next service at the garage.
I've also noticed my rear brakes is starting to stick after parking for several hours when it rains - exactly the same problem my old Nova had. Funny. It's not a problem, just a nod towards the cheapness of the car.
