Kaylee was sitting on her bed, glancing around at her near empty room. The Christmas lights that were still up were the only sign that someone had lived here.

It was a little hard to believe she would be leaving in a few hours.

"You won't have to miss me for long," River said with a crooked smile. "I wrote to Simon about the trip to Miranda. He wants to see me. I'll visit this weekend."

"Oh! Well, that'll be nice," Kaylee said sincerely. "And I'll make sure to keep in touch even when you're not visiting."

River nodded in agreement. "No need to worry him. But there will be more if it, I believe," she said, clearly happy with that situation.

River wasn't sure 'nice' was the word she'd use to describe Jack, but she just nodded. "I think this is good." She reached out and gave Kaylee a hug. "Look after Serenity."
