After his conversation with Pippi, Alphonse left to go see if he could find anyone he knew. He wasn't sure where his other roommates would be at, but glancing down the hallway he remembered there were others, too. So he found himself at Kaylee's door, almost wishing it were open first. "Kaylee, are you in there?" he called; normally, he would knock first, but that didn't seem to be an option.

Kaylee walked over to the door. It sounded like Alphonse, but she wanted to make sure. "That really you, Al?"

Kaylee went to open the door, but her hand seemed to go right through the doorknob. "Huh?"

She tried again and the same thing happened. She was too frustrated to try concentrating on opening it. "I...can't seem to open the door."

Alphonse hoped that sounded worse than it truly was. "Oh, um," he paused, staring at the door. He wouldn't be able to open it either. "You wouldn't mind if I, er... came through, would you?"

"Um, okay," Kaylee replied warily. She hoped the shadows creatures hadn't gotten Alphonse, too.

Alphonse lifted up a hand, oddly hesitant to start putting it through. This? Was entirely too weird to him, as being able to walk through things was not something he ever expected to be able to do. Once his hand went through the door, Alphonse opted to go through it instead of drawing this out, walked through and stopped once he was inside the room. "Um," he began awkwardly. "Guess that fixes the problem."

Alphonse sighed. "Too?" His shoulders slumped as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Yeah, they did."

"Yeah, except I'm real cold," Kaylee said quietly. "And tired. And I can't open my door."

"Me too," Alphonse said. "Feel like I haven't slept in ages, but now wouldn't feel right to take a nap." He turned towards the door. "Pippi said if she concentrated hard enough she could grab things. I've tried to, or maybe I'm just not concentrating right."

Kaylee nodded. "Concentrate, I think I can manage that."

She glanced at the shadows in her room. "I'm afraid they'll come back."

Alphonse did the same before quickly replying, "Don't worry, they won't." He actually didn't know if that was true, and in fact knew it was a possibility, but Alphonse would rather take the more comforting route. "I don't mind sticking around if you don't want to be alone."
