I'm still working on my paintings, although I've yet to apply brush to canvas and the deadline is fast approaching. Erk. I've got about five designs that I'm pretty happy with, though, and will probably start painting in the next few days. However, I'd appreciate some advice first.

1) Orange/red/white is good, but I don't like the combination of the white outline with the white parts of him. I think it makes him look unfinished. I'm not super-keen on the light-blue face, but that might be because of the background also being light-blue.
2) Not sure...
3) Some sort of sky? Is it too cheesy to have shafts of sunlight falling on him? Perhaps you could have a bunch of wedges of colour radiating from somewhere off the top-right corner, with the middle ones being lighter than the others. Actually, I'll draw an example:
I think the colours I used are too strong, and the location of the light doesn't actually line up well with where he'd be, but you get the idea. Hopefully.
4) Is his face deliberately ambiguous? It keeps flip-flopping for me between the white bit being his eye and the top bit being an eyebrow, and the white bit being a marking on his cheek and the top bit being a closed eyelid.
