[PSA: This is just a general, publicly accessible announcement to say that the great majority of my LJ before this post--and everything after it--is flist locked. If you know me and you'd like to read more, by all means ask. Otherwise, I'm afraid that you'll just have to be satisfied with my open Clarion posts and a few other assorted posts over the past several years that I've left up.

Earlier today I read on
yuki_onna 's Facebook update that her novel Palimpsest had made the
2010 British Fantasy Awards long list for Best Novel--big congrats to her! So I moseyed on over to look at the list, wondering what I'd maybe read that was on there.
Imagine the shock when I saw that my short story
"If Wishes Were Horses" had made the long list for Best Short Story! Holy Crap! I'm still totally confused about it, but so excited. "Horses" has become the little story that could :)
And I have no clue who recommended it. (My first suspect turns out to be innocent of all charges.)
Congrats also go to
shweta_narayan , a fellow Clarion alum, whose story "Charms" is also on the list, and to Strange Horizons (where both of our stories were published), which has made the list for Best Magazine.
