Its been a really long month for me. At the beginning of the month, I had what appeared to be an allergic reaction to something I had for dinner. By the next morning, I couldn't close my mouth without my throat closing as well. I was admitted to the hospital and released several days later. When I got out I had lost my voice and I just chocked it up to the stress on my throat from all the anti-inflammatories and stuff.
The next weekend, I couldn't fall asleep because I was coughing so hard. You know the kind of cough where it feels like your scratching the inside of your lungs, yeah that kind. So when I woke up my chest was sore. I just decided that I'd work through it. So I went about my day and decided to put my bike away for the winter. I set it up on its rear center stand and thats what did it. Shortly after that I had this extreme pain in my chest. I couldn't breath deeper then short shallow breaths. So I went to the hospital. Not even a full week after being released the first time. They did X-rays and other tests and concluded that I had torn the cartilage between my ribs on my right hand side. So they gave me Percoset and Valium. The Percoset had been making me really sick and out of it.
Not too long after, my throat started hurting again and my uvula felt really thick and heavy. If I leaned forward, I could feel it swing forward or rest on my tongue making me gag. Shannon checked it out and said it looked like Strep Throat. So back to the hospital I go. Again. They did a culture swab and gave me antibiotics. So now that my "infection" is at a peak, I've had a fever and nausea from the antibiotics as well as the infection.
What Shannon and I think happened way back at the beginning of the month was that I didn't have an allergic reaction but the onset of this infection. Mostly because I didn't react the way I usually do to food allergies.
So my ribs still hurt. I can breath deeper but not at full capacity. I can only breath at a very relaxed rate and depth so I get winded and worn out pretty quickly. The pain hasn't been getting any better. Its even spread around to the back of my rib cage as well too. I used to have to sleep propped up in a reclining position, then flat on my back then only on my side and now I can't lay down at all from the pain. I haven't been sleeping well due to the pain as well as the fevers.
So I went to my family doctor today to do a follow up and address the increasing pain. She took me off the Percoset, which I pretty much stopped taking due to the nausea. She upped my Valium and switched my painkiller to something that doesn't make me sick. She also said the swabs came back negative for Strep. So she took another swab, drew blood, and did another x-ray.
So all in all, my unknown infection is clearing up, my uvula is getting back to normal size and I started taking my new painkillers. Shannon also got me these 8 hour heat wraps to get me through my work day.
That's why I haven't been online or chatting or anything for a while now. I just wanted to let everyone know what was up and say hey.
I hope you all are doing better then I am and I'll let you as I get better.
