The fear of fear (fear is a sort of pain) , expressed in the letter comes from the right intuition that the real expierenced fear comes up, every time it is rememberd, with the same intensity. A small part of fear is due to the unkonwn of the future occurence of the feard actions and ist consequences, while despair is(=) facing unavoidable pain. Unfortunmately western psychlogical tinking, especially so far at it is incoporated in polirtical thinking, is doing always the third and fourth steps, without any clear defintions.
I oriental tradition, because of the hard suppression of despotism there, there are a lot techniques concerning pain (which fear is a sort of), namely faqirism. One of the main features is to maintain logical thinking and expression of it, especially on a social strategic level.
