i saw HHGttG (and lauren)

lauren i saw you at the Paradiso today but i thought it would be awkward to come talk to you so i just sort of made an angry face at you and left

now, onto the movie, i thought hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was great. Douglas Adams is so cool. for those of you who don't know, HHGttG started off as a radio broadcast but when it was turned into a book it was entirely different. and likewise, when he wrote a sequel he made reference to things that happened in the previous book that really never happened in the previous book. i was a bit worried about how the movie was going to adapt onto the big screen so i'm glad he found a way to tell the same story in a completly different manner. in fact, i only had two problems:

1. they spent too much time explaining things. in the book a lot of the funny is just random and out there. in the movie they spend a lot of time explaining things instead of just doing them. i felt like instead of packing it with jokes they added less but made sutre you didn't miss a single one.

2. in the end of the movie ford says "i know a great restaurant at the end of the universe" and then marvin says "it's at the other end of the universe and then the ship turns around and starts going the other way. well, for those of you who read the book you'll know that "the end of the universe" refers to a time not a place. i don't know why but it just bothered me.

anyway, good stuff. nolan mailed me his wheels and bearing so all i need is some hardware and i'll have a working skateboard. whipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
