daydreaming on a strawberry swing | a tvd gen fanmix

So, since my brain can't handle words and writing these days, I decided to finally make good on a gen fanmix I said I'd do for myself months ago. This is dedicated specifically to the kids of Mystic Falls (Elena, Bonnie, Caroline, Tyler, Matt, Jeremy, duh). I have so many feelings about them and the crazy lives they got stuck living (oh MATT), it ( Read more... )

I think the cap of Elena's blood-soaked hands for This Woman's Work is particularly cruel. I told you this already, but it bears repeating.

This mix is amazing! I love the tone, the songs are perfect and just call for replays (as you know since I was stuck on Strawberry Swing and Cry When You Get Older for a day), and the graphics are particularly unfair. These songs + graphics + characters - Salvatores = feelings that I do not want about these kids growing up and being forced to grow up and some of them even choosing to grow up, because there is enough space in here for choice, in cruel and heartwrenching and violent ways.

I think Strawberry Swing, Cry When You Get Older, 4 Minute Warning, Time Machine, On the Radio , Broken Bones, especially attacked my feelings.

Obviously, what with your graphic of choice, I envisioned a montage of Bonnie repeatedly bringing Jeremy close to death in the dimly lit motel/her dimly lit room/the Grill's backroom storage/pick a location while listening to Swoon because how do I roll?

This mix is beautiful.

WHY ARE YOU SO GOOD TO MEEEEEE?

HA, that cap for This Woman's Work was my favorite to do tbh because I am predictable and learned cruelty in the cradle :).

These kids are so horribly tragic. In some ways, this entire show is about the tragedy of growing up and just how progressively fucked up life becomes, how narrow your room for choices, how lonely, and cruel - and it's overwhelmingly sad sometimes.

All those songs are my favorites. So good. Why no one has made a video to Strawberry Swing in this fandom is a mystery to me.

Like, you understand my priorities. I have been dreaming up this really detailed Bonnie and Jeremy scene in my head next season - where he shows up at her door, completely lost and alone and broken because Elena's off learning to be a vampire and he was in the house by himself. And he tells her, 'I didn't want to be alone.' And this is Bonnie, who has perfected the art of aloneness, of course Rufus is with the leprechauns, and she's in that house by herself. And then SKIP SKIP SKIP they end up having angsty sex. I should write it up one day.

Thank you, you spoil me, Alta. Really.

Fandom can always be counted on to have wrong priorities.
