One of the more surreal moments of this morning was when my playlist chose to play "Read to Die" by Andrew WK and then "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlan.
Yesterday I tried out for a role in the school play. They're doing Twelfth Night. I hope to be either Toby Belch or Malvolio. Either one would be pretty cool. They'll let me know if they want me by Friday.
I've started to be more active in my university life, which is terrifying in its own way. September 10 is International Free Hugs Day, and I decided to see if I could organize a group to go hug strangers around Madrid. Should be fun. I'm holding a meeting tomorrow at five, hopefully before callbacks if that affects me. Lots o' fun in the neighborhood.
I think I've finally broken the ice between me and my roommate. Yesterday I went and got a pizza because I'd spent three hours at the audition and didn't feel like cooking. I asked him if he wanted a piece, and we had an actual conversation that went beyond:
"Hey."
"Hey."
"How was your day?"
"Good."
"Anything happen?"
"Classes."
"Yeah, me, too."
Nice, eh? One barrier is that the chair to my desk won't lower, and it's about two or three miles high, so I'd look like a crone if I actually tried to use it. As a result, all my computering is done in the kitchen while he does his at his desk because he can adjust the height of his chair. Gr.
I have set plans in motion, however, that, if successful, will win me half the earth's surface, including his fancy chair. It is only a matter of time.
