post about the availability of 'Futurelearn', a MOOC developed by a consortium of UK universities (although a New Zealand university is also included).
The platform is disappointing; content is light and as usual, open source technology is ignored. Futurelearn decided to use Vzaar as the video host, but it is incompatible with Opera and Firefox browsers (Futurelearn web site erroneously claims that an HTML5 browser is required). The Vzaar web site claim to be comparable with other providers such as Kaltura; well, the latter was chosen for a recent World Bank open access week seminar and the video content worked perfectly (admittedly, not live, but the archive version, yes).
