This makes me happy and sad.
Because fuck yeah! Donna always deserve the best, and it hurts but maybe Harvey isn't abble to give her what she deserves. And not because he doesn't want too, but because he's damaged to a point where doesn't even know how.
And because of who she is, I think she'd be the one to walk out, which makes this fic a pretty damn good picture of it.

aw i think you're exactly right. i think harvey does love her in his own capacity at this moment but i don't think it's what donna needs. i still kills me to think of them not together but i guess this was just an angsty au in a different direction.
thank you! i do think donna would have to be the one to leave - harvey couldn't even fire her because he's so attached to her.

i hope that on the show, they let them both grow a little bit more and fix the characters emotionally before they push them into a romance. i just love them both too much to have the possibility of them ruined there.

God. Heartbreaking, but it's my favorite line in the fic. It's just raw and aching and entirely too true.

Beautiful style here and an amazing look at Donna. EVEN IF YOU DID BREAK MY ANGST VAULT FOR THE MONTH. :P

WELL THIS IS CERTAINLY FULL OF WONDERFUL ANGST. As much as I love sunshine and roses, I do live off of angst, so this was kind of perfect in that regard. I really enjoyed this.

Just curious, do you see this taking place after Season 2 or is this set in an alternative universe several years before season 1? I may be imagining things, but this seems to me what could have happened during "that other time" . . . Because the Harvey in that five years ago flashback - I could definitely believe this.

Because I feel like post-Season 2 Harvey is getting to the point where he may not be ready to say it and she knows that, but there are definite feelings. His face when she denied loving him that way was telling as was his response when she was on the stand, never mind agreeing to settle.

to me, it's set before and after. some of the story is set in the beginning of their relationship, and her leaving is set after the mid-season finale.

i totally agree with you! but i do think that they need to flesh out the parameters of this relationship more. dona's only recently gotten a bigger role on the show and i really want to see all they can do with their relationship before they make it official.
