a town called mercy discussion/dw themes for this season post

hey cuties, -ie this is basically a for mandy post-

i know y'all probably sick of my fangirling but lets talk meta for a minute and the dw credits. (for those that haven't seen dw yet, DNR but it's not really spoiler-y as much as specular-y.)

i'm pretty sure we can say in consensus that this new season has been considerably darker than the last - simply in the doctor's attitude towards death/killing other people. In the first episode, Eleven was perfectly happy to kill a planet full of (technically) GOOD Daleks while he left the parliament of them to do their own thang~ and then in DoaS, again, he was quite happy to let Solomon die. And THEN to cap everything off, in last nights episode, he had no qualms letting Doctor die in order to appease the Gunslinger. While I'm pretty sure this whole season is leading towards something darker (hopefully) I've found some proof.

- which might seem circumstansial to all of you but it's pretty weird enough to be significant in my opinion.-

i'm not colour blind and i've been noticing the title sequence has been getting darker. AND NOT JUST THAT. i'm sure you're thinking "um it's the screen brightness on your computer" but i'm pretty sure you can't miss this:

so now as i've discovered this, IM FREAKING OUT that the episode with the ponds is just going to be bLACK and something terrible is going to happen (although i have a feeling it'll just be them choosing~ to live their lives without the doctor because in the promo rory was like "we have two different lives" and ofc, amy was like "well which do we choose?" and i'm pretty sure we can all guess.) but, in true dw fashion, you never really know until the episode airs but there's some speculation for you to munch on until next saturday night.

with all my love,
alexa
