I am disgusted.
Filming is underway for the film "Chapter 27" which should come out sometime in 2007. Its about Mark David Chapman during the days leading up to December 8th, 1980 when he murdered John Lennon. Chapman was a pathetic loser who could only gain fame by murdereing someone who had already achieved it. All he did was walk up to John Lennon and pull his finger and he affected millions and millions of people.
He didn't murder John Lennon because he hated him, he did it because he loved him too much and wanted to be tied to him even if it was in a sick and twisted way. This film "Chapter 27" is giving Chapman exactly what he wants, more fame and recognition. The whole premise of the movie is a slap in the face to the legacy of John Lennon.
But thats not even what irks me the most. The geniuses behind the making of this film decided to film the murder sequence outside the Dakota apartment building in New York City where it actually happened. I might add that Yoko Ono still lives there. She got the filming to be stopped for a short time but it wasn't long before "Chapter 27" got permission from the city to continue. Yoko Ono begged for them to film somewhere else, having failed at stopping the production all together. Did they grant her wish? No. Instead Yoko Ono was forced to relive the most tragic event of her life, when her husband was murdered, right outside of her home.
Commercialization of tragedy is one of the sickest things in this world.
