History:
Wiki![Optional] Character Development and Relationship Transfer from previous RP: None! First time playing in a game outside of dressing rooms.
Personality:
The first thing one will notice about Alistair when meeting him is his sarcastic nature. At first glance, he doesn't seem to take anything seriously. Constantly joking, his witty one-liners and quick humor can make him come off as stupid, childish, and yes, irritating. One might however note that he doesn't show fear often, and that he can make light of even the worst situation. Taking this into consideration, Alistair is a lot stronger a person than one would think. It could be said that his constant joking is a defense-mechanism.
Given his past, we can see that Alistair operates on more than just two dimensions. He was bastardized as a child, his father was king and his mother a slave. In order to keep the child a secret, he was sent to be raised in the Chantry. Because of his upbringing, Alistair is very sheltered and naive. As a young man, he began training to become a Templar knight, but left before taking his vows to become a Grey Warden, under the direction of a father figure that he would inevitably lose... just like the rest of his family (And the rest of the Grey Wardens, for that matter.).
Alistair needs direction. He has a hard time coming to terms with adult problems and lacks the problem-solving skills needed to handle them. He is very indecisive, and will often let others take the lead and make decisions for him. Despite being the elder Grey Warden, he lets the rookie take lead once the other Wardens are lost in battle. It is likely that responsibility is one of his greatest fears. He confides in this rookie that he is actually he heir to the throne, but does not want it because he is convinced that he is a terrible leader- which because he believes it so, is true. He asks the rookie Warden their opinions on things often, as if he is unable to form his own.
This, however, does not mean Alistair doesn't have his own opinions at all. He feels very strongly for what is right and wrong, and his conscience weighs heavily on everything he does. He admits to feeling to blame for everything that has happened, for the death of the wardens, and for the destruction of a nearby town because he could not take all of it's inhabitants with him. He is willing to do whatever it takes to help the people of Ferelden. Alistair does not show anger often, but when he does it is out of passion. Should the Warden allow someone to be sacrificed at Redcliffe, Alistair will confront them about their decision, though back down admitting that it has already happened and they should move on.
Alistair's conscience and innocence could most likely be attributed to his upbringing in the Chantry. He admits that he was raised to be a gentleman and to not take certain things lightly. He will avoid most conversations about intimacy out of sheer embarrassment and lack of experience. He does, however, require someone to confide in. He trusts the Warden in most of their decisions and will confide in them time to time, letting his sensitive and vulnerable side show. At the moment he is ridiculed in a hurtful way, his skin thickens again and he is back to childish and sarcastic. Despite all that has happened to him, Alistair is not one to dwell on the past for too long, but in general is optimistic about the future.
Skills | Powers: Alistair is of the weapon and shield warrior class. This simply means that the is efficient with a one-handed sword and a shield, rather than any two-handed weapon. He deals strong, physical blows either by slashing his enemy with a sword, or bashing them with his shield. He is what you would call a "Tank", in that he is great at the front of the party to hold the enemies attention and take most of the hits/damage so that the rest of the party can attack from afar and not risk getting hurt. This is because of his high strength and constitution. Strength being plain-and-simple physical strength, constitution being how much damage he can withstand (in video game terms, a big health bar). He is great in close battle... and even better when surrounded by enemies, as he has many abilities to stun them and knock them back, as well as keep their attention on him instead of the other party members. Alistair wears heavy armor. His strength and dexterity are high, meaning that he is quick, even wearing armor that is so heavy it could slow him down.
Due to his templar training, Alistair has a templar specialization. Templars are men of the church who are very anti-magic, their job is to keep the mages in check, and to seek out any rogue mages and deal with them properly. Templar abilities include actions that will drain mana (another video game term, basically the ammo for the magic) so that the mages cannot cast spells. Templars also can withstand some magic spells that may effect them mentally or cleanse an area of magic spells to make it "safe" for other members of the party. Alistair can also use his templar training to disrupt a spell from being cast, usually by stunning or knocking back the mage if it attempts to cast a spell.
Alistair is an expert in combat training and tactics. Combat training means that Alistair is highly experienced in combat and it gives him a bonus to armor and attack. Combat tactics helps a person plan out combat before getting in over their head. Alistair can respond appropriately for any eventuality, is conscious of when his health is getting low, and is able to avoid the stickier situations. Using these tactics also helps him work together with other party members without needing constant direction. He can recognize certain spells and take the steps to avoid them if necessary and he knows when it is appropriate to use potions, or other defensive maneuvers when his health is low or if he is wounded.
Any normal human being has to get tired eventually, and Alistair isn't much different. Prolonged combat will require extended rest, and if Alistair ever has to take on a large number of enemies at once without help, he will become overwhelmed. He will only be able to be in combat for roughly 20-30 minutes if it is a particularly rough battle where there are multiple strong enemies and he is getting little help. He will be able to combat longer, an hour or maybe even two, if it is lighter combat where there are not a constant stream of enemies hitting him at once. If there is a short rest between combat, Alistair will last longer. This can be negotiated depending on the enemy he is facing. Obviously if it is something extraordinarily strong and Alistair will not stand a chance, this will be different. It will have to be determined on a case-by-case basis.
In order to keep his templar training without possessing any special "power" in the game, Alistair will still be able to recognize a spell when it is being cast and be able to take the right actions to avoid any offensive attack. He has a higher resistance to magic and a high mental resistance, so if an enemy were to attempt to effect him with something that could cloud his judgement, for example, Alistair would be able to see through the spell in order to continue combat. This, too, will need to be limited for in-game purposes. Alistair will still be resistant to weaker spells, however anything more powerful he is susceptible to.
Also I think it is a good idea to note here that while Alistair is a warrior and highly experienced in combat, he could probably be easily taken down out of a combat setting. Just like anyone else, when not on a high alert, or ready and waiting, someone (or thing) could really take advantage of the situation and catch him off-guard. If ever found without his weapon or armor, for example, he might not last that long, depending on the situation.
(I realize this is slightly vague, but the combat will really depend on the situation. I am more than willing to under-power him if requested and I am very happy with discussing this in detail to ensure that the situation is played out fair.)
Alistair is a Grey Warden. Being a Grey Warden, the darkspawn taint is in his blood and means that he is connected to them. He will only live 30 years, but due to the taint has become stronger, and has a higher stamina than most normal humans. This helps him keep going in prolonged combat (Though for RP reasons obviously I'll keep this in check, and as I said before, prolonged doesn't mean forever.). Some side effects to the taint include an enormous appetite (consuming everything in sight) and vivid nightmares. Because he is connected to the darkspawn, he can sense them. And as the darkspawn are drawn to the archdemon, so is he, though he seeks it to destroy it. Grey Wardens can also sense other Grey Wardens, as they also have the taint in their blood.

First Person Sample:
[There is a distinct smashing of buttons from big, armored fingers. It causes the video feed to snap on. Alistair can be heard mumbling to himself, barely audible.]
What sort of---?
[He stops, mid sentence... Alistair stares at himself in the video reflection for a second, raising a hand to sweep a few stray hairs into place. He shrugs and begins fumbling with the buttons once more until the thing beeps.]
Oh... oh, Maker, I broke it.
[He clears his throat, the tablet is placed down in front of him, the camera facing the ceiling.]
---just put you right back down there, and no one has to know this ever happened.
Third Person Sample:
Campfire wasn't the greatest source of light, but then again, stitching a name into a pair of socks wasn't a fine art that would require better lighting. Cutting the thread on the edge of his blade, Alistair admired his work. How long he'd keep this pair before the dog put a few holes in them... well, that he didn't know. And speaking of the thing, Alistair hadn't quite put those socks away when the animal was suddenly panting behind him. He turned slowly, he already knew what he'd be looking at, he just didn't want to acknowledge it.
"Shove off, will you? You already ate the last of my cheese! What else do you want?" Alistair swatted at the animal, who merely barked in response, mocking him. "Don't you have other people to bother? Go talk to Morrigan, I'm sure she'll love to feel your hot breath against her skin."
The animal let out a short wimper before shambling off toward Morrigan on the other side of their camp. That thing was too smart for it's own good, and he could hear Morrigan screaming at it already. Alistair snickered to himself, turning back to his tent. He rolled the fresh socks up and tucked them in a pouch with the rest of his belongings where he figured the hound couldn't get to them. He froze when he felt something moist in the bottom of the pouch.
"EYCH! What is this?!" he shouted, it had already gotten on his new socks. Well, there that goes. He emptied the pouch, only to find a dead rabbit in the bottom, it was fresh.
"Are you kidding me?!" The dog raced back over to him, barking and wagging his tail. "This better not be your idea of a gift." Alistair picked the carcass out of his pouch and tossed it outside of his tent. The dog proudly picked it up in his mouth.
"Charming. But I really think you meant to put that in Morrigan's things. She'd love that. Cold and rotten. Ha, just like her."

sex: Male
age: 24 (This is an estimate)
height: 6'
weight: 200 lbs
canon point: Prior to landsmeet, after all treaties were called. At this time, he is not hardened.
previous cr: Bringing him from
UWW, the last tag on that list is actually my most recent activity due to a month of hiatus.
His relationships with others can be found
here. It briefly outlines how he feels about each character.
The only MAJOR events that have happened in UWW to Alistair are:
-He discovered Cousland's fate.
-He learned his own fate, that he should become King some day.
-While he isn't hardened in canon (and as a result, the path I had laid out for him was one with the Grey Wardens), he is more accepting to the idea of being King now, due to the amount of people who respect him for it.
-Despite the above he is still somewhat naive and continues to be an absolute derp.
-His memory is fuzzy but he knows something might have happened during a curse with a one Carver Hawke and he will deny it forever.
-It has become harder for him to accept the fact that what happened to the other wardens was not his fault after a curse involving their ghosts.
-He was given a tattoo by Jack of the symbol of the Grey Wardens.

As far as weaknesses go, I think it is safe to say that Alistair wouldn't last very long on his own. He is used to fighting in groups, with help. That, and if he is caught off-guard, unready for combat, the attacker obviously has the advantage.
