And today Bush announces that he wants $80 Billion more for war.

Note in the diagram that the deficit was whittled back consistently every year from 1992-2000. Then the drop. Hmmm. I wonder why on EARTH that is. Couldn't have ANYTHING to do with which political party was running the show, could it?

I know 9/11 played a factor but I'm still not the least bit convinced that the Bush administration's hands are clean on that one.

By the way, as of today, the U.S. National Debt (not to be confused with the budget deficit) is at just about $7 trillion. That means the U.S. government's public debt is roughly $25,000 per citizen when you average it out.

Oh but there's nothing to worry about. Have a cookie.
