Yeah, I was aware of ∆Aimon for a while, and not hugely impressed with the few tracks I'd heard, until I listened to the "Flatliner" EP - hearing the tracks in a "semi-album" format, and especially some of the remixes, caused me to re-evaluate them a bit. Their proper debut album is out by now, and garnering all sorts of buzz.
Wolfsheim for me is sort of musical comfort food sometimes, and I've found myself listening to them again lately. Not sure whether it's despite or possibly even because of that "uneasy nostalgia type thing". I suspect there'll be more on the next few mixes, apologies in advance for any queasiness. :P
Soma are a band that I find hard to classify at the best of times...and I never really heard much TCH, to tell the truth. The only similar stuff off the top of my head would be some of David Thrussell's *other* projects, like Black Lung, and parts of Snog. I know you're familiar with Snog already, but check out Black Lung if you don't know them. I seem to recall posting a Black Lung track on a mix ages back, not sure whether you expressed a liking for it or familiarity with them though.
Yeah, the launch of the "Revolution" club was one factor in my delayed response, as I am involved in the whole thing. The Fiona mentioned is a good friend of mine from way back in the early days of Dominion, and has been one of the most tireless and dedicated promoters/punters/general "players" in the Dublin scene for years. She's actually the "Ministry Of Agroculture" mentioned, who've brought Peter Murphy and VNV and Combichrist, among others, to Dublin in the last few years. And one of the nicest people you'll ever meet too. But I digress...yeah, I'm involved in the Revolution thing, not to a huge extent as yet, with my other stuff going on lately, but so far so good. The launch night was a pretty unqualified success, and I wasn't DJ-ing at it so I could actually relax and enjoy it, despite being under a bit of a cloud that night. We're starting off monthly, and "trying a different venue on for size" every time, and basically building it from the ground up in a more democratic (ugh ;P) way than usually happens in our little scene, and I feel optimistic about it filling the vacuum of Dominion etc. We'll see.
I do occasionally follow SideLine, though I can't say I find them an "essential" resource, especially not these days. My latest fix has been "I Die You Die" (www.idieyoudie.com), which I recommend highly...it's about the only music site thing in the last year or so that I've actually bothered to "follow", to the extent that I make sure to listen to their podcasts and read pretty much everything they post. It's endearingly nerdy (sometimes to the point of long-winded annoyingness on the podcasts), but the guys who run it are knowledgeable and passionate, and have introduced me to quite a few new bands. Actually, Legend and ∆Aimon were two of the bands I probably wouldn't have explored further if not for them.
OK, time to stop my waffle and get back to working on the next mix, I think. :)
