Help with pill

May 28, 2006 07:07

I feel silly asking this, seeing as I was on the pill for 10 years, but I have been on a break for a year and I am nervous about starting up again. My doctor is putting me on Yasmin for a few months to see if it helps my symptoms. I was supposed to be a Sunday start - the package insert says to start taking them the Sunday after you get your period or if you get your period on a Sunday to start that day. Well, when I woke up and went to the bathroom I have some blood and I feel sort of crampy, but it's nothing full blown just yet (trust me, when it is I will be in agony), should I take the pill today or wait until next Sunday?

EDIT: Ok, I took the Yasmin, but I now have a second question. I am sure many of us are familiar with the debilitating, gut-wrenching cramps that start at the pelvic area and spread all the way around to the back. I was popping loads of Advil/Ibuprofen before, but now my doctor gave a prescription for 550 mg of Naproxen 3x a day. I know Naproxen is Aleve. Which have you had better luck with, Ibuprofen or Naproxen? And if I start with one and it doesn't do the job, can I take the other? (just looking for experiences and opinions).

Thanks again for your responses!
