I was kind of in shock on how painful it was but I think the past exams as uncomfortable as they may be, I was still sexually active at those times so things were a little more stretched out. I've always been "tight" down there and my uterus is also tilted in the opposite direction so everything hurts no matter what I do. My doctor is gentle as can be and he hated to basically have to do the exam twice but my body was trying to spit that speculum out! LOL! I've been seeing my doc since September 2003 because the pain was becoming unbearable. Before then I was seeing a general practioner and always having a history of bad cramps and other pains with no reasonable so I was on Depo-Provera and trying various ibuprofens and naproxens to kill the pain. My current doctor is fabulous and he focuses more on gynecology, endometriosis, and other issues (though if I ever get married and have kids down the road, he's gonna deliver my kids). My first appointment with him we discovered I had ovarian cysts and those have thankfully disappeared but I have pain consistenly in one area. I was officially diagnosed with endo on August 20, 2004 and that was the day I had my first (and only so far) laparascopy. We sort of knew it all along but it became "official" when I had the surgery.
However, I've actually felt decent today (and not sick to my stomach and loopy) while on my new pain meds so I'll definitely call back and get him to phone in an Rx for me. I'm feeling better but the initial couple hours post-exam are always the worst.
