Hi everyone, I've just joined livejournal again after a few years away after a recent diagnosis of endometriosis. I haven't actually had a laparoscopy yet - the gynecologist is putting me on the three-month pill and if that doesn't help I'll look at having a lap in a year or so - but my symptoms are a perfect fit and my mother had endo. Unfortunately, my mother passed away two years ago, and my dad was never any good at remembering details, so I don't know anything about her diagnosis.
Anyway, my pain was really debilitating in the spring, but with some lifestyle changes it's gotten better. I can't really prove that all the dietary changes I've done have actually been the cause of my pain reduction, but I have enough anxiety around surgery that I want to try all the non-invasive options first.
I'll have a look around past posts on nutrition later today when I have a little time, but I wanted to say hi and thanks for providing a support group! Livejournal communities really helped me in the past with my depression and I'm looking forward to communicating about endo!
Thanks everyone! Hope you're all feeling as well as can be
Edit: Just seen my doctor today, and she's given me Yasmin to take continually for three months. There's no new posts under the Yasmin tag since 2007, and there seem to be lots of side effects for people - has anyone tried it (or other continuous pills) more recently, maybe they've change and aren't so bad anymore?? I've been on the NuvaRing for over five years now and love it so much, I'm really sad to be giving it up.
