Just saw "Alice in Wonderland"

I like it a lot!
I didn’t come out of the theatre with a this-was-fricking-amazing! feeling, but I was very entertained. It probably could have benifited from more craziness, although I didn’t really mind it making more sense.
I did love the sword-wielding Alice. That’s not something you see a lot in movies and I do love ( Read more... )

I knew I would love the movie from the first few minutes because it contains almost everything I enjoy: the Victorian Era, England, and a strong heroine. I really loved sword-wielding Alice as well, and I too am always up for a message about girl power--I'm jealous of Alice's armor! And I think it's great that this movie was different, that it had a message. Because I really wasn't expecting them to play up that aspect of a strong female.

I wasn't too blown away by HBC either, but I think it's because I was expecting it, like you said. But I did think Johnny Depp was awesome... he was so adorable and heartwarming. You just want to hug him sometimes. Although I never quite understood the whole thing where his voice got all scary, deep, and Scottish. But let's just talk about Alan Rickman--and just the caterpillar in general--for a second. Wasn't it completely awesome?
As for Mia Wasikowska, her acting didn't always amaze me, but I think she was okay. There is definitely something about her, though, because I found myself loving her. I think part of it is that she holds her own in scenes with such great, well-known actors, you know?
Also, I want her curls.

Yes! I'm always up for a sword-weilding chick. Honestly, I get so tired of all those fragile-yet-adorable heroine. Enough. I want someone who can kick ass. I want Xena (or something).

I really didn't get the Scottish thing either. Are Scottish accents suppose to be more threatening? I don't know.
I was charmed by Mia Wasikowska, but I just don't see what new things she can bring to the industry. I'll have to wait to see her in other movies.

I LOVE Alan Rickman. But then again, when isn't he just great?
