Personality:  Beatrice has a cruel and twisted personality.  She is known among the other witches as a witch with great power and is feared by many.  She herself claims to be "fickle by nature," so she often switches her mood from elegant to sinister.  She loves tea and sweets, especially black tea and ice cream.  She has lived for a thousand years and hates being bored.  In the visual novel's second episode Turn of the Golden Witch, she comments, "I cruelly treat humans as playthings during my thousand years of boredom."  She sneers at people's mistfortune, also using it to stave off the boredom of a thousand years.  The center of Umineko's plot focuses on this "game" she plays with the Ushiromiya family, in which she collects all the fortunes Kinzo Ushiromiya made from her gold, including his descendants and his servants, who she murders during the annual family conference.  Now when it comes to games, Beatrice enjoys playing dirty until the very end.  One example is in Episode 2, where she further disgraced Kanon, a servant of the Ushiromiya family, by erasing his corpse with magic after murdering him and then having one of her goat servants take the same form as him to deceive the rest of the family.  She is annoyed by magic repelling charms because they weaken her powers and if they're hung from a door they prevent her from entering rooms.

She hates people who deny her existence, which is why she clashes with Kinzo's grandson, Ushiromiya Battler.  However, it's mentioned in the visual novel's first episode Legend of the Golden Witch, that although Beatrice is extremely angry at Battler's stubborness, she also seems to be enjoying herself "immensely" and that "it's almost as though she's waited a thousand years to get her hands on a toy as fun as this one [Battler]."  The reason for this is because she loves a human with "backbone" and she believes that it will be even more entertaining to make them submit.  When it comes to her magic, Beatrice is willing to make a gamble out of it since she believes that the greater the risk, the more powerful the magic.  Despite her twisted mind, she is a witch who keeps her promises.  She does this because she does not wish to be as low as humans.  In Episode 2 she comments that "there's nothing more doubtful than a human's promise" because humans are selfish creatures, at least from her perspective.  She even leaves a letter to the Ushiromiya family saying that she will stop the killings and return everything if someone solves the riddle on her epitaph.  Although she's lived for a thousand years, Beatrice is an immature child at heart.  She takes her title as an Endless Witch lightly, commenting that the "eternal bliss" that Endless Witches were said to have was actually "eternal boredom."  To Beatrice, human lives are nothing more than toys for her to play with until she grows tired of them and decides to toss them aside.  Finally, she is the type to hold grudges, so if you insult her she WILL get back at you one way or another.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

-Strengths-
Cunning:  Beatrice easily sways people with her way of words and she's a good actor.  She will appear as a friend and promise something good if the other does something for her in exchange.  She will keep her promise and grant whatever it is that the person wants, but her deals usually have to do with something about helping her obtain full power.  For example, in Turn of the Golden Witch she was able to talk Shannon (another servant of the Ushiromiya family) into breaking the spirit mirror that blocked her powers by promising to bring her and her loved one together.  Beatrice kept her promise, but she also murdered Shannon and her beloved later on with her newly-restored powers.

Ruthless:  She has no hesitation or remorse when she kills, so she definitely won't hold back in a fist-fight either.

A fighter:  It doesn't matter that Beatrice is a woman, she's still a fighter who doesn't give up so easily.  She can take lots of damage and lose a lot of blood, but she won't die.  Since she's a witch, bullets can't touch her (they'll actually bounce back at the person who fired) and she has healing powers.  The only way to kill her is by destroying her heart, literally.

Furniture:  Beatrice has many servants, including the Seven Stakes of Purgatory and a demon named Ronove.  She also has the power to summon the 72 demons of the Ars Goetia.

Not easily frightened:  For the most part it's unknown what scares Beatrice enough to make her scream, so she's not an easy person to scare.

Perceptive:  Beatrice can look into one's soul just by looking deeply into their eyes.  This allows her to see the secrets one keeps deep within their hearts, which may provide her with valuable information.

Endless Witch:  Beatrice's rank as a witch is "Endless Witch," which means that she is a witch who can fix, or rejuvenate, anything that breaks (or dies) repeatedly.  No matter how many times it breaks, she can restore it over and over again.

-Weaknesses-
Speaking rudely: Just because Beatrice wears fancy clothes doesn't mean that she's a polite witch.  She has a tendency to speak in a rude way.  In fact, Beatrice herself claims that speaking rudely is simply part of her personality.  This doesn't make a good impression on those who meet her for the first time.

Magic repelling charms and scorpions:  As mentioned before, magic repelling charms weaken her powers and prevent her from entering rooms when they're hung from a doorknob.  She can't just touch them, or else they'll burn her hand.  Beatrice also hates scorpions because they have the power to block magic.

Time period:  The plot of Umineko no Naku Koro Ni mainly takes place in 1986, so she won't be familiar with technology such as the pokegear.

Cocky:  She has the bad habit of becoming cocky when she is close to victory, so this will be a hindrance to her when she's battling another trainer.

Intimidating:  Due to her twisted personality and cackling (which she often does), most people fear her.  Even if she introduces herself as a friend, people are still frightened to be in a witch's presence.  This will make it hard for most people to grow close to her.

Samples
(Please note that both samples must take place in Route_29’s setting.)

First Person Sample:

[She looks around at her new surroundings.]  Wh-What is this?

[She looks down at herself and is surprised to find herself not in her usual dress, but in her suit.]  Seriously, what...  [As she runs her hands over her black jacket she feels something in the pocket.]

Hm? [She digs through her pocket and takes out a red and white colored ball and turns it around in her hand.  When she notices the button in the center she pushes it, curious to see what happens if it does.]

[She gasps and drops the ball when the red light flies out of it. She watches with wide eyes as the light forms itself into a Girafarig, which tilts its head at her.  What catches Beatrice's attention the most is its tail.] What are you?  Some kind of a demon?

[The pokemon stops tilting its head and a happy shrill comes out of its mouth.  It trots over to Beatrice and licks her face, only to be pushed away immediately.]   You...!  [Beatrice wipes her face on the sleeve of her jacket and glares at the creature.]  How dare you lick me!  Do you know who I am, demon? [The Girafarig merely tilts her head at the witch again.]

Third Person Sample:

Beatrice continued to walk down the route.  Why did it have to take so long to get to the other town, she thought to herself.  She hated sleeping outside on the dirt, like some peasant.  What she hated even more was that she couldn't just turn into a cloud of golden butterflies and fly to the next city, nor could she call Ronove or the other furniture.  She thought it strange that all this began happening when she woke up in this place.  Was she in a realm that repelled witches and demons?

Suddenly she felt the creature prod the back of her head with its nose.  She stopped walking and an irritated sigh came out of her mouth.  "Why are you still following me?!"  she turned to face the strange demon.

The Girafarig was becoming a big nuisance to Beatrice.  Ever since she freed it from its prison, it had been following her nonstop.  The pokemon tilted its head at Beatrice for the hundreth time that day.  Was it really that stupid to be unable to notice that it was unwanted?

"You're free from your prison, so you can do whatever you want now!  Just don't follow me!"  Beatrice looked at it straight in the eye to let it know that she was being serious.  The demon seemed to have gotten the message, for it hung its head.

"Hmph!"  Beatrice turned on her heels and resumed walking.  However, when she looked back to make sure it wasn't following her, she saw that it still was but it was keeping distance from her.

She stopped walking again and turned around.  She headed over to the Girafarig, preparing to yell at it again, but as she got closer she noticed how sad it looked.  Judging by its eyes, it looked as though tears had fallen.

Beatrice's sharp blue eyes softened a little.  She looked up to the sky and sighed.  She looked at the Girafarig again.  "So, you want to stay with me that badly, do you?"

The pokemon lifted its head to meet her eyes, but it kept that sad expression.

"Very well, then.  You can come with me if you serve as my furniture, which means you must obey everything I tell you and come whenever I summon you.  Do you understand, demon?"  Beatrice said to it.

She saw the creature's eyes brighten and it regained its happy expression from before.  It let out a shrill cry of joy.

Beatrice just smirked at the pokemon's enthusiasm.  "My, such eager furniture.  You'd better not let me down.  'Cause if you do, then I won't give you any second chances.  Understood?"

The Girafarig nodded its head and emitted another shrill cry.
