The Waiting Game for im_thedoctor
"Just stepping out for a moment." scoffed the Master, pacing around the console. "Shouldn't take more than a second." He stopped his counter-clockwise motion in a quick, smooth motion, hands clasped tightly behind his back. "No need for you to come along, besides, it's a populated world. Can't have you causing trouble."
The Master ground his teeth together in irritation (not worry, never that) and turned sharply, stalking in the opposite direction. "Two weeks ago he said that and where is he?" Again, he stopped and scowled, this time at the console.
"Well?" he demanded sharply. "Haven't you got any idea, you great, stupid overgrown lump of endangered coral?!" The TARDIS whirred in irritation, a warning. "Don't you presume to antagonize me." he hissed.
Arguing with the TARDIS should have been his first, very obvious clue that he'd been isolated with her for far too long. They'd both been without the Doctor for fourteen days, twelve hours and thirty-seven minutes. Not that he was counting, not at all. He was superb at calculating time and he hadn't put much effort into figuring that out at all.
He was, after all, a Time Lord.
His captor was as well and as he stalked around the console (for the fourty-eighth time that day) he decided that he was going to make the Doctor's life more painful than usual. Just as soon as he was found. "If you can't find him then allow me to." he snapped.
He may as well have been talking to Earth coral for all the good that did him.
"Fine. We'll wait and hope he hasn't gotten himself into trouble. Nevermind that he could be dying." He waited for it to sink in.
"We mustn't set the Master loose on an unsuspecting public."
Silence reigned for the longest time before the doors opened. He grinned triumphantly. "Pleased to see you aren't nearly as stupid as your pilot. Now, show me what direction he set off in." he said, going to the view screen but not touching it, knowing she would shock him. The TARDIS allowed him to see and he memorized it after only a few moments.
"Be back soon, darling. Don't wait up." he announced before heading out and onto the planet's surface.
