Just finished the End of Time, David's last episode. Sigh. Despite being quite possibly THE STUPIDEST episode of the new Doctor Who series (and that's saying something. I mean, I love it, but the stories in Doctor Who are by and large pretty damn stupid), the way they dealt with Ten leaving and the whole 'end of an era' thing really bummed me out. And yes, I cried. But ONLY when he went to see Rose. Because after everything, The Doctor/Rose still gets me. Even more than David leaving, I think the fact that the Doctor/Rose is now totally over and done with is what put me off. I wish I had season 2 dvds to go crying to, lol. Everything post-Fear Her that involved Rose was really depressing.
Anyway, stupid episode was stupid, no denying that. There were more plot holes than plot, and did I mention stupid? That had to be the worst 'take over the world' plan I've ever seen. And that includes world's worst plan #1, Twin Clones of Hitler. WE HAVE A NEW CHAMPION EVERYONE. John Simm was fail actor. I mean, his part was badly written, but not that bad. He chewed the scenery and then quite literally spat it back out. With EVERY LINE.
Anyway (again), dumb as it was, the episode was saved merely by the fact that it was Tennant's last, and he made the most of it, didn't he? Even he hammed it up more than usual, especially with his twelve 'death' scenes. Still, when he said 'I don't want to go', you believed it x3 it's almost like they're pushing him out rahter than his voluntarily leaving. Sigh.
We'll see how the new guy fares (although I'm already against the bow tie), but like Ecclestone before him, I'll really miss Tennant.
