1) Work is going okay, I'm getting used to the commute. I had some trouble getting my agency to divulge the URL of the online time sheets, but it's sorted now and I'm getting paid on the 11th. I'm going to have to borrow a lot of money off Andy until Friday...
2)I've just been tidying up the spare room, because this year the gas fire inspectors have gone nuts and demanded to see all these vents and things we didn't know we had. They sent a nasty letter to the landlord when they couldn't access all the vents and things, so the landlord gave us 48hours notice of an inspection, which led to some truly spectacular housework, including a memorable trip to the recycling centre at 23:00 one night. The landlord wasn't sure what the gas inspector's beef was, as we've always passed inspection before, so we'll probably be all right.
3) While tidying the spare room, I found mounds of ancient LRP kit, in varying shades of green and gold. For those Ni-watchers who didn't LRP with me, this was the kit used to play my first ever LRP character, Serenade the bard. Dear old Ren wrote a whole load of sad poetry, mostly when yet another love interest bit the dust, and like all writing more than, ooh, three years old I winced whenever I read something horribly overwrought.
3a) Huh, I seem to have sliced a knuckle while I was tidying. I didn't realise the poetry was THAT emo!
4) Speaking of old writing, I'm feeling especially cheerful because I decided to see how much I could reconstruct of Under The Wyvern, my winning Nanowrimo from 2007.After trawling through my Sent Items on Hotmail, I discovered the answer was about 90% of it. I though that when my hard drive died back in August that it was toast, so I'm well pleased. I can't wait to do up the second draft!
5) And yes, Nano 2009 died at 35k words when I got my new job. I'm pretty well okay about this- call me a dirty sellout, but I reckon the job comes first.
