Right, I'll be off to work, sniffles be damned. I'm probably not dying, no matter what my innate self-pity tells me.
Meanwhile, I've been considering Maelstrom. I enjoy it, but frankly I think it's time to cut down. Money is getting tighter, holiday allowance isn't great, and it's time I cut out a lot of frivolous spending. I reckon all told I spend about £500 a year on Maelstrom, inc. tickets, transport, food, Hotel, drinking, and so on.
Rather than give it up altogether, though, I might compromise and just do the middle two events. The Easter event and the September event are just too bloody cold and unpleasant. It's a shame because the Easter event is the 4 day one, but for several years now the weather has made that into an endurance trial.
I'm aware that this could just be the typical winter apathy, but it's something I'm considering as an option.
