So I am currently spending my day being violently ill and cursing the heavens for whatever is happening to my digestive tract. Since I cant do anything productive, I have decided to post on my LJ for the 4 people who would actually see it.
I got offered a temporary job back at ITT, the company that fired me last summer. After three weeks of "urgent" phone calls and paperwork and a drug screening they finally got around to looking in their files and realized that they had fired me once. I was supposed to start this Monday, but instead I got a call on Friday afternoon informing me that my offer of employment was retracted. I was furious at first because it seems that HR couldn't find their own ass with both hands and a fucking map, but what finally got me wondering was why it took so long for them to realize they had fired me before. I mean, I listed the internship with them on my resume and even stated in the application that I had been fired from the internship. Also, they were offering me an entire extra $.50/hr over what I had made as an intern with them, so fuck them.
I got a new computer. It is very shiny. Amazing how much technology changes in the 6 years between desktop computers.
Most of my extended family came to town this weekend, including my Sweet Baby Ava, who now insists that she is a big girl and is the most independent two-year-old I have ever seen. This is the first time since my sister Lisa's wedding that all my siblings have been together under one roof. I maintain that I am the normal one of my family.
In closing, I would like to share with you a quote I just read in an article about the worst ice creams in the world. The author has this to say about astronaut ice cream:
"Developed for astronauts because NASA hates astronauts, freeze-dried ice cream is solely responsible for every failed space mission ever."
EDIT: I should also point out that I have been so bored while job hunting that I have been teaching myself new programming languages just so I can apply for more jobs. I taught myself most of JavaScript the other day and now I'm taking a crack and XML and Perl.
