Just some quick guideline:
*No one likes a Mary Sue or her supah hawt lovah Gary Stu. Avoid them.
*We don't want the house clogged with a bunch of teenagers. Varied age gaps add conflict and some resentment ("Kids these days!" "YOU DON'T REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO BE MY AGE!!!") and we really want a CORNUCOPIA of ages in the house.
