Eternal Recurrence

A morph of a previous work. A bit messy, but with purpose at times. It intrigues me...

In the days of old, the days of young
When one man drank and the other man sung
'Round revels full of ancient lore, homage to the elements four

-Follow madness below...

In the days of old, the days of young
When one man drank and the other man sung
'Round revels full of ancient lore, homage to the elements four

We danced with the divine.

I remember when Zoroaster spake
The words of men destroyed our gods
And a carpenter rebelled with words of hope

“Do unto others…” was our book.

And a child looked up and smiled at his mom.
As droplets caressed his wisps of mane
The man with friendly eyes held him up for all to see:
Accepted by all, rejected by none.

I remember the days where wonder danced above,
the stars were filled with holy love.
Where God was truth, the manifest light,
Proof only found in the twinkling night.

What happened to that certain truth?
The battle was won, our spirits free
He was with you, He was with me
Absolute reality...

A child cries hiding under his bed.
Daddy screams that he wants mommy dead.
The child hums the songs from school,
Eyes wide shut, he wants his family again.

Knock, Knock, Knock... do you feel the winds of change?
The bloody mouth of God more sinner than saved.
In the late mid-day past the hour of four
Martin Luther knocks on a church-way door

And in the lands of the east under a scorching sun
The name of Allah is praised as One
The pantheon in Africa, the spirits of Japan
We await the Buddha, Vishnu at hand!

I am the Alpha and the Omega,
The beginning and the End,
The First and the Last…

A baby dies, and a baby is born
A bomb goes off, a building is torn
A sword is plunged, a body burns aflame
‘Praise be to God’ …the words are the same.

He’s grown up now, a smart kid,
The embrace of a friend is all the validation he needs.
He hears the tears of others, and how they beam with joy.
It’s so obvious.

He knows it, he feels it… it’s not quite right without…
It couldn’t…
Without…
There’s an explanation, I know it.

I’m so young in this world.

He’s kissed for the first time and is lost in those eyes
A maze of emotions that are foreign in him
Resurrect as his heart pounds through his flesh

Consciousness expands.

I look up at night, what am I supposed to see?
Gases and dust, they made you and they made me.
Quantum mechanics, Darwinian forces
Sexual desire, my own wild horses.

Comfort is found in another’s soul
Energy explodes, our problems dull

What is love? What is lust? What is true? What is Just?

You’re in my arms, I give you the nod
Sensation stirs, we have found our god

I hear what they teach us everyday
You have a bias, let others have their say
But when the sun sets or the moon is aglow
Creation stops…

…time and space flow.

The music plays. The moon shines.

He smokes mother earth with those he cares for.
The room was filled with a sweet perfume.
His self was tingling with indescribable tension
A chord was struck, and all the rest is silence.

Social orders fade in the eclipse of perception.
We laugh and dance and plot our revolution.
The ground shakes to a fevered pitch
As the chasm opens: the new perestroika!

Are you convinced you have a soul?
Just listen to old time rock n’ roll!
Bourbon in hand, a friend by your side,
We dance by the fire on a rising tide.

We are seekers of truth, we are seekers of life.
So damn close on the edge of a knife.
The pieces are forming, the threshold is there!
Is death the awakening, are you aware?

The music plays. The night fades.

And the baby stops crying, and the silent guns fall.
Consciousness fades, and I hear the spirit call…

And I think to myself, how much has really changed?

From the days of old, the days of young
When one man drank and the other man sung
‘Round revels full of ancient lore, homage to the elements four.
