A Quickie Before I Go...

I'm just gonna write a quick little entry before I take off today for Colorado.

Already the trip is not going right. I should have left at 7 this morning... Instead, my mother called to tell me that they had a tire blowout, so they'll be driving to Denton now to get the thing fixed, and THEN we'll be on our way. Being that we are driving to Denver, we're going to drive today and part of tomorrow to get there. My mother doesn't like driving late into the night, so it's going to be a two day foray. I don't know where we're staying tonight though. :-s Hmmmm... I didn't bother to ask. Granted, this trip was done on REALLY short notice. My parents decided last weekend that we were going to be leaving this weekend. It doesn't bother me much... It just feels so unorganized. At least, unorganized for a trip that my mother is heading. :-p

In any case, I'm REALLY looking forward to this trip. If you haven't heard me ranting and raving about it already, I'm going to Colorado to look at four different universities' counseling grad programs. I'm really hoping to head there for grad school in a year. God... It's only going to be a year... Graduation is right around the corner, and after not doing what I should have done for undergrad (ie, start looking at colleges early on), I'm becoming really focused on what I need to be doing. Not that I regret my choice of college for undergrad. I don't. I just remember being VERY unorganized, and somewhat uncaring, my senior year of high school, and being busy with everything else besides looking at colleges. I really don't want a repeat.

Now, the trip will not only be for looking at grad schools. It will also be a VACATION, albeit a vacation with my parents. However, it will still be nice to get away from Texas for awhile and have a nice change of scenery. Texas scenery just doesn't hack it sometimes. Hence my choice of where I want to go for grad school. Colorado is gorgeous. All in all, I'm looking forward to this.

In other news... My roommate for Summer 2 showed up yesterday. Her name is Kumi and she's a foreign exchange student from Japan. She seems pretty cool overall, though... She doesn't exactly understand the language all that well yet. Not that I can blame her. If I went to a foreign country, I'd be like a lame duck, attempting to understand everything. Let's just put it this way... She came in on my lunch break, and as I was leaving to go back to work, I told her: "I'm going to go back to work now." At which point, she looked at me quizzically and asked: "What is work?" Hee hee... :-p It should be an interesting experience. I really don't mind explaining things to her that she doesn't understand. I feel bad leaving her the day after she got here, but I wasn't expecting her, and to be quite honest, leaving for Colorado this early was rather unexpected in and of itself.

So yeah... I guess this entry didn't turn out all that short after all. Ah well. I'll see you guys later!!! Have a wonderful week!!! Don't do anything REALLY fun without me!!! :-p
